An iPhone or iPad is often the screen that's closest to hand: in bed, in the kitchen, or watching a match while the main TV is busy. Setting up ViviMate on iOS takes a few minutes, and the same steps work on both iPhone and iPad.
Supported players for iPhone and iPad
ViviMate is a subscription, so on iOS you watch it through a third-party player app from the App Store. The supported players for iPhone and iPad are IPTV Smarters and GSE Smart IPTV. Both are made by independent developers. App Store listings change from time to time, so search for each by name and check that the developer and reviews look right before installing.
Wondering which one to choose? The ViviMate IPTV player guide compares the supported players across devices. New to IPTV altogether? Start with the ViviMate IPTV guide.
Add your ViviMate login
- Open the player and choose to add a new playlist, user or login.
- Choose Xtream Codes if it's offered, and enter the server address, username and password from your ViviMate setup message.
- If you were given an M3U link instead, choose the M3U or playlist URL option and paste it in full.
- Save, then give the player a minute to load channels, films, series and the guide.
On iOS, copying details from your setup message and pasting them into the player is quicker and safer than typing. Long-press each field to paste, and check there's no stray space at the end. If you're choosing between formats, the M3U vs Xtream Codes guide explains the difference.
iOS settings that help playback
- Turn off Low Power Mode while you watch. It can reduce performance and background network activity.
- Allow mobile data for the player in Settings → Mobile Data (or Cellular) if you want to watch away from Wi-Fi.
- Use landscape orientation lock carefully: if the picture won't rotate, check the rotation lock in Control Centre.
- Keep the app updated through the App Store; updates often fix playback and guide issues.
Watching on mobile data
Video uses a lot of data. As a rough guide, an HD stream needs a steady 10 Mbps or so, and every hour of HD adds up quickly on a limited plan. If you watch away from Wi-Fi often:
- choose a lower-quality version of a channel where one is offered;
- check your mobile plan's data allowance and any video limits;
- download nothing in the background while streaming.
You can check how fast your phone's connection is with the ViviMate speed test; run it on the same network you'll watch on.
Getting the picture onto a TV
Some iOS players support AirPlay, which can send the picture to an AirPlay-compatible TV on the same network. Support varies by player and by stream, so treat it as a bonus rather than the main way to watch on a big screen. For the living room, a player running on the TV itself is usually smoother: see the ViviMate Smart TV guide or the Firestick guide.
Using a VPN on iPhone or iPad
ViviMate is VPN compatible, and many VPN providers offer iOS apps. If you use one, pick a nearby server and re-run the speed test with it switched on. The ViviMate VPN guide covers this in more detail.
If something isn't working
A rejected login is usually a typo or an extra space, and a blank guide usually needs a refresh. The ViviMate troubleshooting guide has step-by-step fixes, and ViviMate support can help any time; mention that you're on iPhone or iPad and which player you use.
